Starting in January Adorama is starting a Workshop Series in their brand-new learning space on the 5th floor at 42 West 18th Street in New York City.
I will be teaching two separate workshop there:
1. Digital Asset Management March 15 and 22nd from 6:30-8:30 (2 Day)
Course Description:
You’ve shot the job—what’s next? This workshop will help you understand digital image management while you learn to create your own customized Digital Asset Management system. Geared towards the professional photographer managing jobs from inception to archiving, this two-part workshop will cover: evaluating asset sources and developing an intake strategy; looking at your existing system of categorizing and exploring ways of adapting it to the new digital system; learning when to edit and why you should edit early; reviewing file naming conventions; asset flow charts; file library vs. master files and exploring DAM software options such as iView Multimedia, Extensis Portfolio, Adobe Bridge and Aperture. Ken will also discuss applying digital image management protocols when dealing with personal snapshots and other ongoing projects.
2. Digital on Location: A Roadmap April 17th from 5:30-8:30 (1 Day)
Course Description:
Using digital technology on location can be as daunting as it is beneficial. To achieve the best results and maximize the efficiency of your work you need to have a plan before you run out with that shiny new camera and laptop. In this Workshop we will discuss: working with digital cameras, downloading your images, keeping your files organized and backed up, the different gear and software available, working with clients on site, ‘comping’ on location, short-notice or same-day delivery, and avoiding the potential disasters caused by hardware and technology malfunctions. This course is geared towards location photographers looking to go digital or maximize their digital workflow efficiency and assistants looking to move into the position of a digital technician.
